I'm using OpenBSD which has the same wscon/wskbd etc. services, but maybe a different version/implementation, not sure. It's so much nicer that linux these days. The default console font is already nicer. And the seemingly relative direct X.org and FB interface is truly speedy. Try CTRL-ALT-F2 and CTRL-ALT-F5 (or F7) to switch between X and the console. In BSD it's half a second (if at all), in linux it takes a few seconds, which is for 2025 just weird. Seems noone cares much about consoles and TTYs anymore and all resources go to some wayland ;)
hmmm i wonder about the logistics of, say, a ghostty port to this device. a comparatively rich Linux terminal (maybe even up to mouse gestures) but fullscreen and zero X11/wayland overheads. maybe my modern PC could feel as snappy as my HP-UX box…
